FLIGHT

The gleam of yellow moonlight hissed in her head
as she stumbled over the threshold. Finding it impossible
to know him, she had become afraid of him and now she ran.
way from the lurking ever-present sneer on his face. Anywhere
away from his pornographic addiction to artful misunderstanding
and deliberate misconstruing of everything she said. After ten years
in what felt like a life-time lived in the maw of manipulative dishonesty,
she knew that bruises from physical abuse fade and broken bones heal
while psychological and emotional abuse beats you to death from the inside out.
